Finnair commenced services between Helsinki (HEL) and Edinburgh (EDI) on 18 April.
The 1,716-kilometre sector will operate thrice-weekly (Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays) onboard the carrier’s A319 fleet. A fourth weekly flight (Wednesdays) will operate between 22 June and 10 August. The city pair will face no incumbent carriers. Commenting on the launch, Gordon Dewar, CEO Edinburgh Airport, said: “This direct new route between Edinburgh and Helsinki is fantastic news – it is further confirmation of Edinburgh Airport’s position as a leader for connectivity from Scotland to Finland and onwards to the expanding markets of Asia. I congratulate Finnair for recognising the growing international demand for direct links to Edinburgh, and this move shows that they have similar aspirations for growth as we do.” Edinburgh becomes the third UK gateway for Finnair, with the oneworld member also serving London Heathrow and Manchester from its Helsinki base.
