KLM has brought Cartagena and Malaga to its Amsterdam network this week, adding to the four new routes it launched from its Netherlands hub the week before

Cartagena becomes the airline’s tenth destination in South America and its second in Colombia. Launched on 28 March, the SkyTeam member will operate three weekly flights to Cartagena via its existing Bogota service on 787-9s, with the 8,425-kilometre link from Cartagena to Amsterdam seeing a non-stop service on the return flight. No other airline currently links Cartagena with Amsterdam. On 1 April the carrier also launched its latest European service, a 1,881-kilometre connection with Malaga. Flown weekly (Saturdays) on its 737-700s, the route will face direct competition from Transavia (17 weekly flights), Vueling (daily), easyJet (five weekly) and Ryanair (four weekly), with the latter also having launched the route this week.
