Xiamen Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines have further extended their cooperation by officially inking the long-term maintenance contract for Boeing 787 engines in Amsterdam.
Under the agreement, Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Manintenance (AFI KLM E&M) , a fully certified MRO organization for the 787 Genx engines, will handle maintenance and repair of the GEnx engines powering the total six 787 Dreamliners in Xiamen Airlines fleet.
The ten-year contract, valued at no less than US$125 million, was signed in a KLM hangar at Schiphol East on April 4, by Ton Dortmans, Executive Vice President E&M KLM, and Cai Chengbao, Executive Vice President Xiamen Airlines. Also present were Xiamen Airlines Chairman & CEO, Che Shanglun, and KLM president & CEO Pieter Elbers.
Xiamen Airlines Chairman Che Shanglun and KLM's CEO Pieter Elbers underline the importance in the next steps of the cooperation and said "This agreement is part of a much broader cooperation between the Skyteam partners KLM and Xiamen Airlines. Xiamen Airlines and KLM connect together almost daily between their respective hubs in Amsterdam and Xiamen and have a broad range of beyond codeshares in place".
