FLEET - Belavia to add A330-200s

Belavia, the national carrier of Belarus, is expanding its fleet with three Airbus A330-200s. A recent video filmed at Minsk showed the first aircraft, registered EW-589PD, being parked at the hangar-area.

As the carrier is sanctioned due Belarus' support to Russia in the war with Ukraine, the airline wasn't able to source the three aircraft directly from a lessor. The trio of aircraft were acquired by Gambian company "Magic Air" in November and December 2023. In August 2024, all three were ferried to Minsk as Gambia is not impacted by the sanctions.

Magic Air is owned by a Syrian-national and has previously sourced aircraft for Syrian airline Cham Wings, which was also under sanctions.

The three aircraft involved are C5-TAB (525), C5-TAC (509), and C5-TAD (491). They will become EW-587PD, EW-588PD, and EW-589PD. The exact tie-up of the airframes is currently unknown.

Belavia's current fleet is made-up of two Boeing B737-300s, five B737-800s, one B737-8, one Embraer ERJ175, and four ERJ195s.

BELAVIA CELEBRATES 25TH BIRTHDAY WITH A E195-E2

 
To commemorate its 25th birthday, Belavia has decided to mark this happy occasion with a special tail on a soon to be delivered E195-E2. The aircraft, currently wearing the test-registration PR-EBP (19020049) flew for the first time on 26 February and will become EW-553PO.

In total, Belavia has orders for three E195-E2s, which will all be leased via AerCap. It took delivery of its first one, EW-555PO (19020042) on 22 December 2020. In total the airline's fleet consists of 28 aircraft: three B737-300s, three B737-500s, nine B737-800s, one E195-E2, five ERJ175s and seven ERJ195s. The airline also has an open order for four B737-8s, which will be leased via Air Lease Corporation. It expects the first MAX8 later this year.

Belavia Of Belarus Takes Its First Embraer E195-E2

Belarusian carrier Belavia took delivery of its very first Embraer E195-E2 yesterday, December 21st. The new generation of regional jet is the first of three that will go to Belavia via lease by AerCap. These new jets will join the airline’s existing fleet of seven first-generation E195s and five E175s.

Belavia to add Boeing 737s, Embraers to fleet

The Belarusian carrier expects to take delivery of four 737 MAX 8s and five E175/195s in 2019-20 (Belavia)
Belarusian flag carrier Belavia has shared plans to radically renew its fleet in 2018-20 timeframe in support of its network expansion ambitions. The airline says it will gradually phase out its leased Boeing 737CL (-300 and -500 series) narrowbodies, replacing them with new-generation 737s and Embraer Е175/195s.


The airline is expecting to lease four Boeing 737 MAX 8s in 2019 and 2020, and is considering leasing or purchasing two more of the type in 2021, a Belavia spokesperson revealed to Russian Aviation Insider. Negotiations over these aircraft are ongoing.


Belavia also intends to add two Embraer E175s and three E195s to its fleet. The airline signed the lease contract with Nordic Aviation in late 2017, Belta newswire reports. Three of the aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2019, to be followed by the other two in 2020. “We are also looking at the E-Jets E2 family, among other possible types,” the airline confided in Russian Aviation Insider.


The operator expects to take delivery of two 107-seat Embraer E195s and a single 76-seat E175 this year, under a contract signed earlier. The first factory-new E175 is scheduled to arrive in late April. The E175s are to join the carrier’s fleet in May and June.


Belavia says its fleet currently comprises 26 aircraft, including five Boeing 737-800s, six 737-500, seven 737-300s, four Bombardier CRJ100/200LRs, two Embraer E175s, and two E195s.


The airline carried 3 million passengers in 2017, up 20.6% on the year before.

Belavia to renew fleet with EJet-E2s, B737 MAX

Belavia (B2, Minsk National) is looking to add E-Jet E2s and B737 MAX jets as part of its fleet renewal plans. The state-owned carrier currently operates a variety of Boeing, Bombardier, and Embarrass jets the oldest of which include eight B737-300s, six B737-500s, one CRJ-100, and three CRJ-200s. It also operates two EMB-175s and two EMB-195s alongside five B737-800s.
According to the BelTa news agency, Belavia Director General, Anatoly Gusarov, told a media gathering last week that management was currently developing a provisional fleet renewal plan for the period 2018-21. The B737 Classics, he said, would be gradually replaced with a combination of Boeing and Embraer jets.

Gusarov said Belavia would accept an unspecified ERJ on April 12 with a further two due in May and June. The carrier also signed a contract with Nordic Aviation Capital late last year for the delivery of five Embraers of which three will deliver in 2019 and two in 2020.

Concerning the Boeings, Gusarov said Belavia's technical department would shortly finalize its selection of a lessor to supply up to five B737 MAX jets in 2019-2020. It will also continue negotiations with Boeing over the purchase of two more jets due in 2021, he added.

Belavia became the first carrier to operate into Moscow Zhukovsky (ZIA) on 12 September as it commenced flights from Minsk

The carrier will operate the 676-kilometre sector daily on its E175s according to OAG Schedules Analyser data. The first flight, which was operated on one of the airline’s 737-300s, managed to achieve a load factor of 90%. Zhukovsky is now the Russian capital’s fourth commercial airport along with Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo. Although no direct competition is offered, Belavia does offer 49 weekly flights between Minsk and Domodedovo when referring to OAG schedules, while UT Air offers a twice-daily service between Vnukovo and the Belarusian capital. Aeroflot also offers 31 weekly flights from Sheremetyevo to Minsk.

Boeing, Belavia Celebrate Delivery of Airline’s First Next-Generation 737-800

Airplane features new modern livery

MINSK, Belarus, AUGUST 15, 2016 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Belavia, the national airline company of Belarus, celebrated the delivery of the airline’s first Next-Generation 737-800 purchased directly from the manufacturer. The airplane, featuring a new distinct livery, completed its delivery flight and arrived overnight in Minsk.

Belavia selected the 737-800 based on business objectives set by the airline – cost efficiency and maximum range for flights to Europe and Central Asia. The 737-800 flies 320 kilometers farther than its competitors while consuming five percent less fuel.

“Belavia focuses on reliability and punctuality in its work,” said Anatoly Gusarov, general director, Belavia. “In order to ensure full adherence to our principles, we made our choice focusing on aircraft performance. Therefore, we hope to increase our dispatch reliability and punctuality rate even further after bringing 737 airplanes into operation.”

Belavia commenced services between Minsk (MSQ) and Kharkiv (HRK) on 17 December

The 716-kilometre link between the Belarusian and Ukrainian cities will operate daily, with the carrier using its 737-500s on the sector. Flights leave Minsk at 13:20, arriving into Kharkiv 13:35. Return flights leave the Ukrainian airport at 14:25, arriving back into the Belarus capital at 16:35. The route will face no direct competition according to OAG Schedules Analyser data.

Belavia adds first commercial B737-800 to its fleet

Belavia has taken delivery of its first B737-800 intended for commercial operations. 

The jet, EW-437PA (msn 27988), was ferried from Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen to Minsk Int'l 2 on January 23 and will shortly enter revenue service on scheduled flights to Barcelona El Prat beginning May 16.

Additional services to Dubai Int'l, Tenerife Sur, and the Canary Islands are also planned as are charter flights.
Until now, the carrier had reserved its sole aircraft of the type, EW-001PA (msn 33079) for VIP use.
