Small Fly (PI, Malta International) has wet leased a Do228-212 from Sevenair (Portugal) (RVP, Cascais) to operate its public service obligation flights from Elba Island to Florence Peretola and Pisa on the mainland.
CS-ATI (msn 8155), an aircraft that had been inactive since early 2024, was reactivated and ferried from Cascais via Sevilla to Florence on April 13, and then to Elba the day after.
Small Fly initially scheduled the induction of the Do228 on its services from Elba to the mainland for early April, but used its in-house Beech 1900D King Airs and Tecnam P2012 for the first half of the month. It serves Florence 5x weekly and Pisa 2x weekly. Starting in late May, it will also add 3x weekly services to Milan Linate and 2x weekly flights to Rome Fiumicino, which are also scheduled to be operated by Sevenair.
The Maltese carrier won the PSO contract for seasonal flights from Elba last year. In 2025, it wet-leased a King Air from Luxwing for these flights. It is the only scheduled operator at Elba, and replaced Rhein-Neckar Air, which went out of business in 2024.
Small Fly's in-house fleet comprises three King Air 200s and one P2012. The airline also plans to operate peak-season scheduled services from St. Tropez in France to Nice and Cuneo, currently scheduled with the P2012.
Sevenair operates two Do228-200s and two Do228-212s, one BAe Jetstream 32, and multiple smaller aircraft used for sightseeing flights and pilot training. Its main revenue stream is the Portuguese PSO network, currently operated with two Do228s. The Jetstream 32 is deployed between São Tome and Principe. The airline's flight operations chief, Sérgio Leal, told ch-aviation last year that securing more PSO and ACMI contracts was a strategic goal for the company.

FLEET - Guernsey's Aurigny Air Services retires last Do228
Aurigny Air Services (GR, Guernsey) retired the last of its two Do228-212(NG)s on February 13, 2026, ending an 11-year tenure of the type in the carrier's fleet.
G-ETAC (msn 8321) operated its last revenue flight from Guernsey to Manchester and back. The 7.5-year-old aircraft was the younger of the two Do228s in Aurigny's fleet, and had been operated by the Channel Islands' carrier since new. The other unit, G-OAUR (msn 8305), was retired in late December 2025.
Aurigny Air Services has replaced the aircraft with a DHC-6-300 wet-leased from Skybus (United Kingdom). The aircraft entered into service in Guernsey in November 2025. Skybus rotates the assigned aircraft; currently G-ISSG (msn 572) is deployed out of Guernsey.
The Do228s and now the Twin Otter are used predominantly for services to Alderney (from Guernsey and Southampton), which cannot accommodate larger aircraft due to runway length limitations.
The rest of Aurigny's fleet comprises five in-house ATR72-600s. The carrier also provides its code for Skybus' PSO flights from Newquay to London Gatwick, which are operated by Universal Air with a DHC-8-Q400.

Pilots Safe But Daily Air Plane Damaged After Landing on Belly
A Daily Air plane landed on its belly at Taitung Airport during a training session on Sunday after the co-pilot forgot to lower the landing gear during the approach, the Taiwan-based carrier said.
The Dornier Do 228 was carrying two pilots when the accident occurred at Taitung Airport in southeastern Taiwan on Sunday afternoon. Both pilots are reported to be safe.
The pilots were practicing take-offs and landings and were returning to the airport from outlying Green Island for one of their practice runs, according to Daily Air Corp.
They were simulating a left engine failure as they approached the airport, and the co-pilot, whom the airline said may have been too focused on the simulated problem, forgot to lower the landing gear.
The airplane skidded over 200 meters on its belly before coming to a stop, the airline said, adding that it was still investigating the accident.
The Taitung Airport was closed for two hours, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., due to the accident.
A farmer who lives nearby said he heard a loud rumbling sound at the airport and when he got there he saw a plane lying flat on the runway and the two pilots getting out of the aircraft.
Wang Hsing-chung, managing director of the Aviation Safety Council, said his agency has sent a group to Taitung to investigate the accident and assess the damage.
Daily Air mainly operates flights to Taiwan's outlying islands, including Orchid Island and Green Island off the coast of eastern Taiwan and Penghu off Taiwan's west coast.
Its Dornier Do 228 aircraft has a capacity of 19 passengers.
