ORDER - Tigerair Taiwan orders four Airbus A321neo

Singapore, 4 February 2026 – Tigerair Taiwan has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for four A321neo aircraft, marking the airline’s first order for this type. The new aircraft will support the airline’s network expansion while delivering improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared to previous generation aircraft.

The low-cost carrier which currently operates a fleet of 17 A320 Family aircraft, including nine A320ceo and eight A320neo, will benefit from greater commonality across the A320 Family, reducing training, maintenance and operating costs.

“The purchase of A321neo aircraft is a cornerstone of our ‘third-generation’ fleet expansion, designed to maximise operational efficiency as we scale for regional dominance,” said Chairperson Joyce Huang of Tigerair Taiwan. “Configured with 232 seats, the A321neo allows us to increase capacity on our high-demand ‘golden routes’ and accelerate network expansion. By serving more passengers across more destinations with a lower cost per seat, this investment reinforces our position as Taiwan’s leading LCC. Furthermore, it advances our journey toward a younger, more fuel-efficient fleet that meets both our commercial and ESG targets.”

“We are pleased to see Tigerair Taiwan reaffirm its confidence in Airbus as it takes another step in its fleet growth. The addition of the A321neo will complement its existing A320 fleet,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of Commercial Aircraft business. “The A321neo is the ideal platform for Tigerair Taiwan to capture growing demand while maintaining its commitment to cost-effective operations.”

The A321neo, the largest member of Airbus’ best-selling A320neo Family, offers segment-leading operating economics and extended range, enabling airlines to serve regional and medium-haul routes with greater flexibility. Compared with previous-generation aircraft, the A321neo delivers a reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions of at least 20%.

The A320neo Family has received more than 10,000 orders from over 130 customers worldwide. All Airbus aircraft are capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) today, with a target to enable 100% SAF capability by 2030.

Tigerair, Cebu Pacific Get Green Light for Collaboration on Flight Routes

Airlines Cebu Pacific and Tigerair have received the green light for a collaboration on flight routes, following changes to their proposed alliance, said the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) on Tuesday (Sep. 22).

In the revised agreement, the budget carriers will coordinate connecting times in their booking systems for interline journeys, where passengers need to travel on multiple airlines. The scheduling of flights will be done independently.

This means that the passengers could benefit from improved connectivity, but the airlines will not have coordinated fares.

The clearance came after Cebu Pacific and Tigerair revised their agreement to address competition concerns raised by CCS. The airlines had initially proposed to jointly operate their Singapore-Philippine routes, jointly sell their routes and cooperate in other areas including sales and marketing, distribution and airport operations.

"CCS considered that the alliance would by its nature, prevent, restrict or distort competition on the overlapping common routes," said the statutory board. The airlines operate common routes between Singapore and Manila, Singapore and Clark, and Singapore and Cebu.

CCS said that the collaboration would eliminate competition on the Singapore-Clark route as both airlines are the only competitors operating the current route. "Even though the barriers to entry are low, CCS has assessed based on industry feedback that it is unlikely for other airlines to commence operation on this generally unprofitable route in the near future," said CCS.

It also pointed out that the airlines account for more than 80 percent of market share by passengers on the Singapore-Cebu route. "While the route appears to be commercially viable and barriers to entry are low, CCS has assessed based on industry feedback that there is no indication of any likely new entrant in the next 12 months," the statutory board said. CCS added that "it would be even more unlikely for other airlines to commence operation on the route in the near future" if the collaboration went ahead.

In the revised agreement, the airlines will not coordinate for pricing, surcharges and capacity, and they will not undertake any form of revenue sharing on the Singapore-Clark and Singapore-Cebu routes.

Earlier in 2014, Tigerair had divested its 40 percent interest in loss-making Tigerair Philippines to Cebu Pacific for US$7 million (S$8.9 million) in a bid to form a wide-ranging strategic alliance. The divestment resulted in Cebu Pacific gaining full ownership of Tigerair Philippines.

Tigerair is first in Asia to retrofit A320 with Sharklets

Sharklets are made from light-weight composites and are 2.4 meters tall. They are an option on new-build A320 Family aircraft and standard on all members of the new A320neo family. They offer operators up to four percent fuel burn reduction on longer range sectors and provide the flexibility of either adding an additional 100 nautical miles range or increased payload capability of up to 450 kilograms.

In addition to its retrofitted aircraft, Tigerair will start taking delivery of production-fitted Sharklet aircraft later this year.

As of today, over 9,900 A320 Family aircraft have been sold worldwide and almost 5,800 aircraft delivered to some 390 customers and operators.
Tigerair of Singapore today unveiled the first A320 aircraft to be retrofitted in Asia with Sharklets. Five A320s have already been delivered to Tigerair with Sharklet-ready wings, with the retrofit work being undertaken by Sepang Aircraft Engineering in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Say Hello To The New Tigerair

Travellers in Asia can now look forward to a brand new Tigerair, as Asia’s leading group of budget carriers unveiled its new identity at a press conference held at Changi Airport’s Terminal 2 today.

Sharing his vision at the press event this morning, Koay Peng Yen, Group CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings, said, “Leisure travel is all about accumulating great experiences and memories.
We hope that the new Tigerair can represent relaxation, joy and adventure in the hearts on our customers.”

The new face of Tigerair has a fresh and upbeat look that embodies its brand personality — warm, passionate and genuine.
The leaping tiger that used to be the main element of Tigerair’s logo has made way for a contemporary grey rounded font typography, with blushing orange accents.

The Singapore-born and bred budget carrier has also been creating synergies between all Tigerair airlines in Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines by allowing customers to book connecting flights from any of these carriers. Passengers can connect flights seamlessly in Singapore without clearing immigration or transferring
their own luggage.

The airline plans to enable mobile and web check-in for all customers, allowing customers without check-in baggage to head straight to the departure lounge upon arrival at the airport. Customers can also look forward to more capabilities on offer via Tigerair’s mobile application, which currently contains many functions, including searching and booking flights, and selecting seats. The mobile app is available on Android, Apple, and Blackberry platforms. Tigerair has also been making fundamental changes to its core processes.
Befitting the Group’s renewed purpose to cut travel-related stress for customers, Tigerair
recently set up a new call centre to better cater to its passengers.
After an initial transition period, the call centre has managed to reduce call response time by half, in spite of the higher call volume received this year.

In addition, customers will be able to make changes to their bookings online, as well as pre-order their preferred meal choice from Tigerair’s award-winning food and beverage menu on all of its flights.

In conjunction with the unveiling, Tigerair ferried 100 students from Metta School, a school for students with mild intellectual disabilities, along with 50 caregivers, on a dedicated flight to Penang today, made possible through a partnership with the National Trades Union Congress (“NTUC”). About 80% of the students who
participated in the trip have never been on an aircraft before.

Explaining the reason behind the brand refresh, Mr Koay said, “We have initiated a series of changes since late last year, and this brand identity should be seen as a reinforcement of our commitment towards a better and bolder Tigerair.”
“
