Hawaiian Airlines to order six A330-800neo aircraft
Hawaiian Airlines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus for six A330-800neo aircraft. The agreement adds yet another name to the growing list of launch customers for the new aircraft type. The new commitment replaces a previous order placed by Hawaiian for six A350-800s.
“The A330-800neo’s fuel efficiency, additional range and commonality with our existing A330 fleet makes the A330-800neo an elegant solution to our need for growth aircraft toward the end of this decade,” said Mark Dunkerley, President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines.
“Hawaiian Airlines has long recognized the value of innovation and today’s commitment is yet more evidence of that forward-thinking mindset,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “The A330-800neo will serve the Hawaiian network well as the airline continues to expand in Asia and grow its capacity in mature markets. The aircraft will provide unbeatable value in a very large and important segment of the widebody market.”
Hawaiian Airlines currently operates a fleet of 18 A330-200 aircraft, with additional orders for 16 A321neo aircraft on backlog.
The A330-800neo and the A330-900neo are two new members of the Airbus Widebody Family launched last week at the Farnborough Air Show. First deliveries are scheduled to start in Q4 2017. The A330neo incorporates latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, aerodynamic enhancements and new cabin features. Benefitting from the unbeatable economics, versatility and high reliability of the A330, the A330neo reduced fuel consumption by 14 percent per seat, making it the most cost-efficient, medium-range Widebody aircraft on the market. In addition to greater fuel savings, A330neo operators will also benefit from a range increase of up to 400 nautical miles and of course all the operational commonality advantages of the Airbus Family.

Air Uganda announces indefinite suspension of operations
In a statement, the carrier placed the blame for its suspension solely on the UCAA and arguing that as an airline, it had conformed to all required international standards including securing its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate.
It said the UCAA's failure to pass its most recent International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)-backed audit (Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme - USOAP) had resulted in it, along with Uganda Air Cargo and Transafrik International subsidiary, Transafrik Uganda, losing their AOCs.
"It is now apparent that the audit revealed shortcomings in the CAA’s oversight and regulatory capacities, consequently impacting the CAA’s ability to award Air Operators Certificates. The Ugandan CAA regrettably opted on 17th June to withdraw, without consulting the airlines affected, Air Operator’s Certificates (AOC) for all international commercial air operators registered in the country," it said.
During the process of recertification, the UCAA has instructed all affected airlines to suspend their operations. As a result of this, Air Uganda says it has incurred "massive financial losses on a daily basis" and suffered "reputational damage" warranting the suspension of flights.
Founded in 2007 as part of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), Air Uganda operated three CRJ-200s on flights to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta, Dar-es-Salaam, Bujumbura, Kigali, Mogadishu, Kilimanjaro, Mombasa, and Juba. CEO Cornwell Muleya has now announced that all its aircraft will now be returned to their lessors in Europe.

Turkish Airlines likely to go ahead with A380/B747-8 order
Turkish Airlines Chairman, Hamdi Topcu, told Bloomberg news in an interview that among the issues it would have to consider include capacity limitations at its Istanbul Atatürk hub.
To cope with Turkish's ambitious longterm expansion plans, Turkey intends to open a third international gateway in Istanbul capable of handling 150million pax/annum in late 2018.
On his airline's options apropos the mid and large-size wide-body market, Topcu said the Boeing B787 and B777X Families, as well as the Airbus Industrie A350 and A330neo are all currently being studied.

In a bid to placate both manufacturers, Turkish Airlines has, in the past, opted to split large orders between Airbus and Boeing.

Uzbek government issues statute funding purchase of B787s
Uzbekistan Airways owner, the Uzbek government, has approved a USD246.6million funding mechanism required to purchase two B787-8s from Boeing and one spare engine. According to the Uzbek press, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan (FRDU) will extend a loan worth USD123.3million backing the acquisition with 40% of the remaining capital to come from foreign banks and the carrier's own coffers.

EasySky has leased a B737-500
EasySky has leased a B737-500, HC-COP (msn 25176), from Ecuador's Sudamericana de Aviación. The twinjet adds to the Honduran carrier's in-house fleet which consists of a B737-200Adv., HR-AVR (msn 23104) currently stored at San José Juan Santamaría. Together, the aircraft will be used in resuming scheduled domestic services between San Pedro Sula and Roatán.
A350 XWB MSN001 successfully conducted ‘Maximum Energy Rejected Take-Off’ test
This latest test is to confirm the braking system’s ability to safely stop the aircraft following a rejected take-off at high speed and high weight – using a set of worn-out brakes. As these brakes absorb the kinetic energy of the aircraft, they glow bright orange and reach a temperature of around 1,400 degrees centigrade by the time the aircraft has safely come to a standstill, whereupon the tires are deflated by special fuses. According to certification requirements, the aircraft then has to stay put for five minutes unassisted, after which firefighters are allowed to spray the wheels and brakes to cool them. The Airbus Test team received full support from the “DGA (Délégation Générale pour l’Armement) – Essais en vols”, which played a key role in facilitating the test.
MERTO is the A350 XWB programme’s final major test before MSN005, one of two cabin-equipped development aircraft, embarks on ‘Route Proving’ in July. The programme has to date achieved more than 2,250 flight hours in around 540 flights, and is on track for certification in Q3 and first delivery to Qatar Airways in Q4.

AZAL Azerbaijan sets September date for maiden US flights
AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines has set a tentative date for the launch of its maiden flights to the United States. According to information at hand, the Azerbaijani national carrier is planning to operate a twice weekly Baku to New York JFK service on-board a A340-500 beginning September 24.

ETIHAD to Start Boeing 787-9 Service to Moscow from June 2015

Aerolineas Argentinas is planning to deploy its fleet of A330-200 on flights to Europe with effect from next year.
JetGo Australia to lease three ERJ-140s from Republic
JetGo Austrália will lease three ERJ-140LR aircraft from US operator, Republic Airlines SkyWorld Aviation has revealed.

Air China retires the A340-300 from revenue service
Air China has retired the A340-300 from its fleet with the final flight of B-2390 (cn 264) between Beijing Capital and Chengdu on July 15.

Transaero Airlines commits to 20 A330s
Transaero Airlines, Russia’s second largest airline, signed a Letter of Intent with Airbus for 20 A330 aircraft (8 A330ceo and 12 A330neo). This agreement makes Transaero an important launch customer and the first European airline to commit to the A330neo. The A330s will allow Transaero to continue the massive fleet modernization program and to boost its medium and long-haul domestic and international network.
"This significant order from Transaero proves that both the A330ceo and the A330neo offer airlines unmatched efficiency, working in tandem to improve airline profitability and passenger comfort. We are delighted that a leading European airline has selected both the A330neo and A330ceo," said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers.
Transaero Airlines launched services in November 1991, and currently serves more than 200 routes all over the world. Transaero will begin operating its first Airbus aircraft (A321) in 2015. In 2011 Transaero Airlines signed a contact with Airbus for eight A320neo and in 2012 became the first Russian customer for the A380, ordering four aircraft, the first of which will enter into service at the end of 2015.

Hong Kong Aviation Capital orders 70 A320neo Family aircraft
Hong Kong Aviation Capital (HKAC), a fast growing aircraft leasing company based in Hong Kong, has signed a firm order with Airbus for a total of 70 A320neo Family aircraft (40 A320neo and 30 A321neo)
The contract was finalised at the 2014 Farnborough Airshow by Donal Boylan, CEO of HKAC and John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. The agreement follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the 2013 Paris Air Show.
“We are pleased to have finalised the order for 70 A320neo Family aircraft with Airbus. The green credentials of the NEO is one of the key factors for us to choose the aircraft and through reduced fuel burn and emissions, HKAC will enable its airline clients to reduce operating cost while improving their environment impact,” said Donal Boylan, CEO of HKAC. “In addition, the A321neo will enable operators to deliver reduced operating cost per seat, and better compete where airport slots are restricted,” added Donal Boylan.

The agreement will be submitted for confirmation of HKAC's majority shareholder, Bohai leasing. HKAC currently has a portfolio of over 50 single and twin aisle Airbus aircraft. It provides financing leasing services to several airlines in Asia and worldwide. This is HKAC's first direct order with any aircraft manufacturer.
The A320neo “new engine option” incorporates many innovations, including latest generation engines and large Sharklet wing-tip devices, which together deliver 15 percent in fuel savings and a reduction of 3,600 tonnes of CO2 per aircraft per year. With more than 3,000 orders received from more than 57 customers since its launch in 2010, the A320neo Family has captured some 60 percent of the market, clearly demonstrating its leadership.

Kazakhstan's Bek Air orders seven Sukhoi SuperJets
"This document opens new prospects on the aviation operations market for SSJ100 aircraft within Eurasian Economic Union, which was founded according to agreement signed in Astana in May 2014 by the Heads of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia," a statement read.
Bek Air currently operates a fleet of six Fokker 100s on an exclusively domestic Kazakh network. The carrier does, however, intend to begin regional operations to Russia, Asia and the Middle East in the near future.
