AWAS delivers a Boeing 747-400 extended range freighter (ERF) to Southern Air

Dublin based aircraft lessor, AWAS, announced today that it has delivered a Boeing 747-400 factory freighter (ERF) with extended range capability to new customer Southern Air. The aircraft is part of AWAS’ existing fleet.

“We are very pleased to accept delivery of this highly capable, factory 747-400 freighter,” said Jim Walsh, Executive Vice President Fleet Development & Strategic Procurement, Southern Air. “We are also very appreciative of the collaboration and teamwork that AWAS has demonstrated in providing this solution for our fleet.”

“The entire AWAS staff is very proud to add Southern Air as a valued customer today,” said Ruben Sanchez VP Sales Americas, AWAS. “Our approach from the beginning was to team with Southern Air, understand their unique needs, and provide an aircraft that met their specifications and mission profile.”

The 747-400ERF offers superior payload-range capability compared to standard 747-400Fs. In addition, its main deck nose door allows for the loading of outsized items such as vehicles, helicopters, and construction materials, further enhancing its performance capabilities.
