Pionair receives first E190

Pionair’s latest addition, an E190 named ‘Cinderella’, was delivered to the company at Sydney’s Bankstown Airport. The Australian ACMI and charter airline will offer the aircraft for contract work starting in 2021. The 112-seat, single-class E-Jet will be based in Brisbane.

The E190 was formerly dry-leased to Helvetic Airways of Switzerland. Pionair purchased the aircraft from Germany’s GOAL Aircraft Leasing.

Pionair CEO and owner, Steve Ferris, acquired the E-Jet for its versatility. “Incorporating the E190 into Pionair’s fleet has opened up more business opportunities for us in Australia and the Pacific. For our customers, its strength also lies in its ample cargo capacity and right-sized passenger capacity to manage fluctuating demand on strategic routes within Australia and beyond.”

Pionair was established in 2000. It has a fleet of 10 BAe146s and operates an E190-E2 for Air Kiribati on behalf of the Government of Kiribati.
