Vietravel, a Vietnamese tour operator, plans to establish a new charter carrier to be based at Hue, Vietnam called Vietravel Airlines. The company plans to launch the startup in 2021, and plans to invest approximately VND700 billion (USD30.43 million) into the project. It will be headquartered at Hue Phu Bai International Airport and will operate three services initially, with plans to expand to eight routes in its fifth year.

CAAV approved the establishment of Vietravel Airlines in Jul-2020. Vietravel plans to offer charter services to Chu Lai, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Van Don and Hai Phong, as well as select international routes.

Vietravel Airlines plans to launch commercial operations from 01-Jan-2021. The carrier plans to initially operate three aircraft comprising either A320, A321 or Boeing 737 and will extend to eight aircraft within five years.

Vietravel Airlines received an air operator's certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) on 24-Dec-2020. The carrier received its first aircraft, an A321ceo, in Dec-2020, and expects to take delivery of two additional aircraft by mid Feb-2021. The start up airline aims to commence services in Jan-2021.
