Zambia Airways receives 1st aircraft



The restarting Zambia Airways has taken delivery of its first aircraft on 29 November. The DHC-8-400, ET-ANW (4320) arrived at Lusaka to a welcoming ceremony. With this aircraft, the start-up is launching commercial flights on 1 December.

The new Zambia Airways is a joint-venture with Ethiopian Airlines, which owns 45% of the airline. The rest of the shares are state-owned. The joint-venture should run for a period of four years after which the agreement is evaluated.

In total, Ethiopian, will provide Zambia Airways with six aircraft consisting of four DHC-8-400s and two B737-800s. All will remain on the Ethiopian-register but will be operated by Zambian crews.
