Silver Airways ends Saab 340-operations
On 5 September, Silver Airways operated its final Saab 340-flight, ending a ten year tenure of the type with the airline. The final flight was conducted by Saab 340B+ N336AG (340B-436), which flew from Suan Juan to Orlando (FL). It was later that day ferried to Springfield (MO).
Over the years, Silver Airways operated 28 different Saab 340s. It was the airline's first aircraft type when it launched operations in December 2011. Silver Airways was the new name for Gulfstream International Airlines, which was leaving a lengthy Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection restructuring.
With the phase-out of the Saab 340s, Silver Airways is now an all ATR-operator with a fleet of eight ATR42-600s, four ATR72-600s and five ATR72-500Fs (which it operates for Amazon Prime Air).
