The A350 XWB arrives in Santiago for the first time ever
The aircraft, MSN 005, is one of five A350 XWB prototypes used to perform comprehensive flight test and development trials. The aircraft flew to Santiago as part of its “Route Proving” mission required for Type Certification, which is expected in September this year. This exercise will include the aircraft flying a representative airline schedule, demonstrating its maturity for airline operations. The aircraft will be operated by Airbus flight crews.
Previously, the aircraft visited Johannesburg, South Africa, Sidney, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand. The A350 XWB departed for Sao Paulo, Brazil, today on Wednesday, 6th August.
The A350’s World Tour began on July 24th and involves a series of tests on four different trips. At the end of the tour on August 13th, the aircraft will have visited 14 airports around the world.
The A350 XWB is an all new family of mid-sized wide-body airliners to shape the efficiency of medium-to-long haul airline operations, overcoming the challenges of volatile fuel prices, matching rising passenger expectations and addressing increasing environmental concerns.
The A350 XWB Family consists of three passenger versions with true long-range capability of flying up to 8,500nm/15,580km. In a typical two-class configuration, the A350-800 will offer 276 seats while the A350-900 and the A350-1000 will offer 315 and 369 seats respectively.

A350-900 (MSN 5), is one of five A350 test aircraft one of two with an Airbus cabin with 265 seats (42 business and 223 economy). The A350’s World Tour began on July 24th and ends on august 13th. It involves a series of tests on four different trips, visiting 14 airports.

Offering its customers a 25% reduction in fuel-burn, the all-new mid-size long-range A350 XWB Family comprises three versions from 276 to 369 seats. The A350 has carbon fibre fuselage and wings and sets new standards in terms of passenger experience, operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. At the end of June 2014, the A350 XWB had won 742 orders from 38 customers worldwide.

The fourth ARJ21-700(serial number 104) landed smoothly at Sanya Phoenix International Airport (SYX) at 1:44 a.m. on Aug. 1, marking the completion of certification testing on ARJ21-700's windshield defogging system.
The windshield defogging flight test is designed to verify that pilots can see clearly by virtue of heating element for windshields in the case of rainy or foggy conditions due to surrounding temperature changes. Because of the high quality concerning temperature and humidity demanded by the certification flight tests, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (COMAC) chose Sanya as the testing base.
During the testing, the aircraft leveled off at 35,000 feet (ten thousand meters). When the windshield's temperature decreases, the ARJ21-700 aircraft lost altitude and leveled out at specified altitude. Temperature changes made the cockpit windshield generate fog, and then the defogging system functioned actively through its heating device. In the certification testing, the ARJ21-700 aircraft defogged the windshields, meeting the airworthiness requirements of the test subjects.
China Southern's 777-300ER Flies China's Longest Nonstop Flight to New York
China Southern Airlines launched an inaugural flight of its Guangzhou-New York service, marking the longest nonstop flight in the history of China civil aviation industry.
It is the first nonstop flight from Guangzhou to New York operated by a Chinese carrier, and the Guangzhou-based carrier's first international flight linked to the East Cost of the U.S.
China Southern's 777-300ER is configured with 309 seats in four distinct cabins - 4 first class seats, 34 business class seats, 44 premium economy seats and 227 economy seats. Each first class seat on China Southern's B777-300ER is installed with a 23-inch high resolution screen, with 15.4-inch screen for business class, 10-inch screen for premium economy class and 8.9-inch screen for economy class.
By now, all of China's three major aviation hubs (Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou) have nonstop flights to New York.

Air Antilles Express & Co. awarded US foreign carrier permits
Service is restricted to aircraft with a maximum seating of 60 persons and having a maximum payload capacity of no more than 18,000 pounds.
Between them, Air Antilles Express and Air Guyane Express operate a fleet of five ATR42s on a route network covering the Caribbean islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe, the Dominican Republic, St. Maarten/Saint Martin, St. Lucia, St. Barthelemy, and Dominica.

The world’s newest, most modern and efficient aircraft, the Airbus A350 XWB has made its debut in Australia, landing at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International airport on August 5th, after flying in from Johannesburg, South Africa.
The aircraft is operated by Airbus flight crews and while in Sydney a representative airline schedule operation has to be demonstrated such as normal airline turnarounds using airport handling services. The aircraft will also be shown to media and to special guest. On the 5th afternoon, the aircraft will fly to Auckland in New Zealand with VIP passengers.

Iberia to retire A340s, phase in A330s, A350s from next year
Iberia will replace some of its current long haul fleet of five A340-300 and seventeen A340-600s with eight A350-900s and eight A330-200s parent firm, the International Airlines Group (IAG), has announced.
"Iberia has taken significant steps to restructure its business and the progress made so far means that we can bring new long haul aircraft into the airline's fleet. These orders demonstrate our commitment to make Iberia competitive," William Walsh, IAG chief executive, said. "Both aircraft will provide cost efficiencies and environmental benefits, enabling Iberia to replace its long haul fleet with modern and fuel efficient aircraft."
The IAG says the A350s would be sourced from its widebody order placed in April of last year while the A330s will be obtained "either by converting existing options from its 2011 Airbus Industrie order or from the operating lease market, depending on financial and delivery terms".
Delivery of the new machines will commence next year and run until 2020. ~

The aircraft, MSN 005, is one of five A350 XWB prototypes used to perform comprehensive flight test and development trials. The aircraft has to fly a representative airline schedule, demonstrating its maturity for airline operations. This exercise is the last of the trials required for Type Certification, which is expected in September this year. The aircraft is operated by Airbus flight crews.
During its visit to Johannesburg, the aircraft has carried out high airfield auto-landing trials. With an airfield elevation of 5,557 feet (1,694m) above sea level and being suitably equipped with the necessary landing aids, O.R. Tambo International Airport is ideally suited for these tests.

Air China Southwest Receives Brand New A330 Aircraft
At 5:00 p.m., July 31, a brand-new wide-body Airbus A330-300from Toulouse, France landed smoothly at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) and joined the fleet of Southwest Branch of Air China (CA), bringing its fleet size up to 68 aircraft including 19 A330s.
The new aircraft, registration number B-5948, is the fifth plane introduced by the branch company in 2014, which will be deployed on Chengdu-Frankfurt route and some popular domestic routes, including business and tourism flights departure from Chengdu, Beijing, and Guiyang.
Airbus A330-300, a wide-body twin-aisle jet airliner, is configured with 301 seats in three cabins - 30 in business class, 16 in premium economy class, and 255 in economy class.
Since the retirements of last Boeing 737 and 757 aircraft in 2013, the branch company had entered an age of all-Airbus fleet. Currently, the branch company operates four models including A330, A321, A320 and A319 aircraft with improved fleet structure, reducing aircraft age from 8.14 years in 2010 to 4.7 years in 2014, which can not only enhance customers comfort, but also save maintenance and operation cost for the airline.
