Peach Aviation, the Japanese LCC with its main base at Osaka Kansai, expanded its presence at Tokyo Narita (NRT) with the launch of two new routes on 29 March

On that day the airline began twice-daily flights on the 938-kilometre route to Fukuoka (FUK) and daily flights on the 787-kilometre route to Sapporo Chitose (CTS). Both routes will be operated by the airline’s fleet of A320s. Competition is intense on both routes; on the Fukuoka route Peach faces direct competition from Jetstar Japan (49 weekly flights), All Nippon Airways (14) and Japan Airlines (seven), while on the Sapporo Chitose route Jetstar Japan (45 weekly flights), Vanilla Air (35), All Nippon Airways (14) and Japan Airlines (seven) already provide service. In addition there is considerable indirect competition from All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines and Skymark Airlines who all operate from Tokyo Haneda to Fukuoka and Sapporo Chitose.
