China to Export 6 Y-12E Aircraft to Congo and Costa Rica

Harbin Aircraft Industry Group Co., Ltd. (HAIG), a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Cooperation of China (AVIC), signed a contract with AVIC International Aero-Development Corporation for the purchase of six Y-12E aircraft.

It is learnt that those six China-made aircraft will be exported to the Republic of Congo and Costa Rica.

The Harbin Y-12 is a small turboprop aircraft, which is widely applied to passenger/cargo transportation, parachuting, geological exploration, aerial photography, ocean surveillance, agriculture and forest uses, artificial rainfall and other general aviation activities. Its lifting capacity is about 1,800 kilograms (almost 4,000 pounds), and its maximum speed is about 280 miles per hour.

Besides, the light multi-purpose aircraft is the first Chinese domestic civilian aircraft awarded the Type Certificate by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Y-12 series own Y-12 (II), Y-12 (IV) and Y-12E aircraft, after gradual development and improvement.

Currently, Harbin Aircraft has delivered about 200 Y-12 series aircraft to customers at home and abroad. The Y-12 becomes the home-made civilian aircraft with the largest deliveries.
