Air Burkina adds maiden E175

Air Burkina (2J, Ouagadougou) has taken delivery of its first E175 following the arrival of XT-ABZ (msn 17000316) in Ouagadougou on January 16.

The Embraer Regional Jet is part of a trio of jets - two E195s and one E175 - that the state-owned airline secured from Nordic Aviation Capital in December last year. Thus far, only one E195 has been delivered with the other - msn 19000050 - at Amman Queen Alia awaiting transmission to West Africa.

Air Burkina also operates two E170s, both of which are owned by Aga Khan Foundation but of which only one is active.

Collectively, the recently delivered aircraft are part of the government's investment in the airline, which had been left reeling following the Aga Khan Foundation's divestiture in May 2017.
But despite this investment, African Aerospace magazine reports that Saudi Arabian aviation consultancy Nexus Aero International (NAI) has been approached by Burkina Faso’s president, Roch Kabore, to set up and manage a new airline in the country. Company chief executive Abdullah Al-Sayed did not, however, provide any further details on the project.
