Canada's Jetlines selects Vancouver as primary base

Jetlines (CJL, Vancouver Int'l) has announced it has selected Vancouver Int'l Airport to be its primary base as it gears up for the launch of operations later this summer season.

The nascent ultra-low-cost-carrier (ULCC) said in a statement that it had filed for and received confirmation from Vancouver airport that the slots needed to operate its initial network using their first two A320-200s will be available.

"In addition to the desirable location and facilities, Jetlines was attracted to YVR due to their competitive rates and charges. The airport’s ConnectYVR program provides airlines a standard rate structure for landing and terminal fees. This program rewards airlines for efficiency and growing their services at YVR providing further incentive for Jetlines to build their base of operations out of Vancouver," it added.

Earlier this week, Jetlines said it would also serve Kelowna and Winnipeg Int'l airports locally along with Puerto Plata, Samaná El Catey, and Santo Domingo Las Américas in the Dominican Republic.
