Flair Airlines curtails US network

Flair Airlines (F8, Kelowna) has announced the early termination of several seasonal Canada-United States routes just two months after their launch.

In a statement to CBC, the low-fare carrier cited “disappointing load factors” for its decision to cut flights from Edmonton Int'l, Winnipeg Int'l, and Toronto Pearson to destinations including Miami Int'l, St. Petersburg/Clearwater, and Palm Springs Int'l.

The suspensions come into effect from Thursday, February 28, and come amid increased competition from WestJet's Swoop and Air Canada rouge in the market.

However, flights to other US destinations, including Winnipeg to Orlando Int'l, and Edmonton and Winnipeg to Las Vegas McCarran and Phoenix Williams Gateway, will continue as planned.

Flair Airlines operates a fleet of seven B737-400s and four -800s (of which two are wet-leased from Smartwings (Czechia) (QS, Prague Ruzyne)). It also offers extensive connectivity throughout southern Canada linking Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Kelowna, Abbotsford, and Vancouver Int'l.
