Oman Air disposes of E175 fleet

Oman Air (WY, Muscat) has retired all four of its E175s, more than two years after they were withdrawn from use.

A4O-EB (msn 17000324) was ferried from Muscat via Sharm el Sheikh to Katowice on March 29, 2022, followed by A4O-EA (msn 17000323), A4O-EC (msn 17000349), and A4O-ED (msn 17000354) on April 14, 2022. They have since been deregistered from Oman and re-registered in the Isle of Man as M-ABPS, M-ABPR, M-ABPW, and M-ABPX, respectively. They are owned by an Irish SPV, Likoma Propco 1/2.

All four Embraer regional jets were retired from commercial service as of March 21, 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic began. They have since only operated sporadic test flights in Oman.

The E175s were the Omani carrier's only regional aircraft. The airline was also the last commercial operator of any non-executive regional jets in the Gulf region. The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that currently, Oman Air's smallest aircraft type is the B737-800.

The airline has applied for expedited processing of a foreign air carrier permit and exemption authority to allow it to begin operations as soon as possible of foreign charters of persons, property, and mail between any point/s in the member states of the European Union (EU), and any point/s in the US, to the full extent allowed under the EU-US Open Skies agreement.

In particular, Heston Airlines has applied to fly from any base/s behind any EU member state via any point/s in any member state and via intermediate points to any station/s in the US and beyond. It also wants to fly between any destination/s in the US and any point/s in any European Common Aviation Area member.

The application also covers foreign cargo charter between any point/s in the US and any other stations.

Heston Airlines Chief Executive Officer Jonas Rinkauskas was not immediately available for comment.

According to its application, Heston Airlines obtained an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Lithuanian Civil Aviation Authority on May 5, 2021.

Its current all Airbus fleet includes three A320-200s leased from CRA Aircraft Ireland, GFL Holdings, and Genesis Aircraft Services. Two more are due for delivery, according to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module. The rest of Heston Airlines' fleet comprises three A330-200s leased from Avolon.

SAS Scandinavian Airlines chooses Digital Alliance’s Skywise Predictive Maintenance solution for its A320 Family fleet

Dallas TX – April 26 2022 – The Digital Alliance has welcomed SAS Scandinavian Airlines as its first customer for its Skywise Predictive Maintenance (SPM) solution. The new solution chosen by the airline is called “SPM Alliance” and will enhance the operations of its A320 Family fleet of around 70 aircraft.

This is the first solution from the Digital Alliance combining predictive maintenance algorithms from Airbus as OEM, Delta TechOps as an MRO and operational expert and GE Digital as software expert. It encompasses a wide scope of components for aircraft and engines produced by various manufacturers.

“SAS is proud to be the launch customer of SPM Alliance and we look forward to using its powerful analytics,” said Marko Rudic, Head of Technical Operations at SAS. “Thanks to SPM Alliance, we will be able to pre-empt operational disruptions and accelerate maintenance decisions by predicting potential in-service issues across our large A320 Family fleet. This is the proactive approach to fleet technical management that SAS wants to take.”

“As airlines are on the path to recovery, it is more important than ever to support them in saving costs and optimising their fleets’ availability. This is precisely what SPM Alliance does: covering a wide scope of equipment, our new solution brings another dimension to predictive maintenance that will considerably reduce unplanned maintenance,” said Lionel Rouby, SVP Digital Solutions, Airbus.

The Digital Alliance was initiated with Delta TechOps in 2019 and then strengthened in 2021 with the arrival of GE Digital; it aims at developing a portfolio of nose-to-tail and cross-fleet solutions that will harness each member’s respective analytics capabilities expertise for airframes, systems and engines, to be accessed via a unified portal through the Skywise platform
