India's Star Air receives its first E175

Star Air (India) (S5, Belgaum) has received the first of four E175s it signed leases for in 2H 2022. The airline made the announcement via its social media accounts on February 8, 2023. The aircraft is believed to be registered as OY-YEF (msn 17000852). Built in 2020, OY-YEF flew for Belavia (B2, Minsk National) before going into storage in November 2021. The aircraft goes to Star Air (India) on a lease from Nordic Aviation Capital.

Star Air (India) launched domestic passenger ops in 2019 using a single EMB-145LR. It has since expanded to five aircraft - four E145LRs and one EMB-145LI. The airline flies to 18 destinations within India. At the 2022 Farnborough Air Show, the airline signalled its growth plans by signing a firm letter of intent to dry lease a pair of E175s from Nordic.

In early January, Star Air also confirmed via social media channels that they would take an additional two E175s. The carrier primarily operates in southern and eastern India. Star Air (India) did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment and has not disclosed which routes the jet will fly on, or when it will be introduced into service.
