Jambo Jet has set April 1, 2014 as its definitive launch date.
In its press release, the Kenya Airways subsidiary said initial Low Cost operations would include flights from Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta to Kisumu, Eldoret and Mombasa. Ticket prices will start from roughly KES3'000 (USD35) one way.
Previous news reports had pointed to Kenya Airways supplying Jambojet with a fleet of B737-300s.
Jambojet was originally intended to take over its parent's short-haul domestic and regional flights, leaving Kenya Airways to focus on growing its connections between Africa and international markets.
