QATAR AIRWAYS TO FLY THE BOEING 787 DREAMLINER FROM SINGAPORE TO DOHA FROM 31ST MARCH 2014

First Route In The Airline’s Southeast Asia Network To Operate The 787 Aircraft

Qatar Airways’ 787 Aircraft On Static Display At Singapore Airshow 2014 From 11 to 14 February

Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways has announced that, commencing 31 March, 2014, it will be operating a Boeing 787 Dreamliner alongside its existing fleet of Boeing 777s on its Singapore-Doha sector – the airline’s first route in Southeast Asia to be using the 787 aircraft.

Travellers from Singapore will soon be able to enjoy the unique flying experience of the 787 from the Southeast Asian city-state to the airline’s Doha hub, from which it also operates the same aircraft type to key cities throughout their network, including London, Oslo, Stockholm, Zurich, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Jeddah, Munich, Riyadh, Delhi, Bengaluru, Dubai and Brussels.

A Qatar Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner on display at the Singapore Airshow showcases the fact that as of March 31, Qatar Airways will be operating the 787 on the Doha-Singapore route alongside its existing Boeing 777s, the airline’s first route in Southeast Asia to use the Dreamliner.

Representatives of the media are briefed on details of the new Boeing 787 which Qatar Airways will be using on its Doha-Singapore route as of March 31.

 “The introduction of the 787 aircraft to the Singapore-Doha sector, which is an important and strategic route for Qatar Airways, will redefine the in-flight experience for our Singapore-based passengers who travel to Doha and onwards to key destinations in Western Europe and the Americas. Qatar Airways is happy to be the first in the Singapore market to provide this unique offering to passengers,” said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker.

A Qatar Airways’ 787 aircraft is on static display at the Singapore Airshow from today until Friday, 14 February, 2014, where the airline is exhibiting for the first time.

Qatar Airways’ Boeing 787 Dreamliner boasts impressive features such as improved cabin pressure, dimmable windows and a more spacious seating configuration. Qatar Airways’ 787s feature 254 seats – with 22 seats in Business Class in a 1-2-1 configuration that convert into fully flat horizontal beds – and a 232 seating capacity in Economy Class in a 3-3-3 layout.

Qatar Airways’ 787s also feature the award-winning iTouch touch control unit, more than 1,000 movies, programming and audio entertainment options, an iPort, USB port, remote data outlet and luxurious personal cabin storage space – all available to passengers in both Business and Economy classes.
Qatar Airways currently has nine Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet of aircraft, with 51 more on order.
The airline currently operates 14 flights each week between Singapore and the airline’s Doha base, from which it flies to 134 leisure and business destinations worldwide
