First major section of C919 aircraft rolls out

Fwd fuselage section of the first C919 aircraft successfully rolled out at AVIC Hongdu Aviation Industry Co., Ltd. in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, on May 15th, 2014. This is the first major section to be delivered in the development process of C919 program, and the successful roll out of this section indicates that the roll out and delivery of all fuselage sections of C919 program has officially started, laying a solid foundation for the butt joint of fuselage sections of the first aircraft in the second half of this year. The section uses world advanced third-generation Al-Li alloy, which is the first time in civil aircraft application and is favorable for improving the performance of aircraft structural material and reducing the weight of the whole aircraft structure.

Mr. Jin Zhuanglong, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), Mr. Li Yihuang, Vice Governor of Jiangxi Province, Guo An, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee and Mayor of Nanchang, Mr. Shen Xiaoming, Minister of Shanghai Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Center of CAAC, Mr. Wu Guanghui, Vice President of COMAC and Chief Designer of C919 Program, and Mr. Geng Ruguang, Vice President of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), directed the roll out on site.
