China Eastern to Operate 777-300ER on Shanghai-New York Route from Nov. 15

China Eastern Airlines' first Boeing 777-300ER, registration B-2001, touched down at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 12:20 p.m. on Sep. 26, 2014 
China Eastern Airlines (MU) will deploy the first Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on its non-stop Shanghai-New York route from Nov. 15, replacing the original Airbus A340-600 aircraft, the airline announced on Oct. 10.

According to the airline's website, flight MU587 is scheduled to take off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) at 11:50 a.m. and arrive in New York's John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) at 1:25 p.m., with the return flight MU588 departing New York at 3:25 p.m. and landing in Shanghai at 7:25 p.m. (all local time).

The Shanghai-based carrier officially launched its New York service on Dec. 8, 2006, marking the second Chinese city after Beijing to offer non-stop flights to New York.

China Eastern's first 777-300ER touched down at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) on Sep. 26, which is the first of 20 777-300ER the Shanghai-based carrier has on order. The 777-300ER features three distinct cabins with 316 seats including 6 first class suits, 52 business class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration and 258 economy seats in a 3-4-3 configuration
