Quick Duck suspends operations

Quick Duck Airlines has, for the time being, temporarily suspended operations after its sole aircraft, an ATR72-600 OM-AQD (cn 1162), returned to Bratislava last week. The turboprop is dry-leased from Singapore-based lessor, Avation. The carrier could not be reached for comment.

Suspicions about the Slovak start-up's future first arose last week when Pakistan's AirBlue (PA, Karachi Int'l) announced it had terminated its lease just 10 days after it began.

Founded roughly 9 months ago, Quick Duck was backed by local Slovak investors to the tune of EUR5million (USD6.02million) with a workforce of DanubeWings  employees. It had planned to take delivery of a second ATR later this year
