Japan Airlines’ Osaka Kansai to Los Angeles

Japan Airlines has used one of its 787-8s to re-launch service between Osaka Kansai and Los Angeles on 20 March. The route was celebrated in California by a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Japan Airlines has resumed non-stop flights between Osaka Kansai (KIX) and Los Angeles (LAX). On 20 March the Japanese oneworld member started daily flights on the 9,218-kilometre route using its 787-8s. No other carrier operates this airport pair. This is the airline’s second US service from Osaka as it already operates daily flights to Honolulu in Hawaii. It is also Japan Airlines’ second route to Los Angeles complementing the airline’s existing daily service from Tokyo Narita. Yasuhiro Nakamura, SVP The Americas for Japan Airlines said, “Japan Airlines is pleased to further expand its trans-Pacific network. The increase in service also strengthens JAL’s presence in Los Angeles and offers our customers more choice and convenience when travelling to Japan and destinations throughout Asia.” Gina Marie Lindsey, Executive Director of Los Angeles World Airports said, “Japan Airlines’ resumption of non-stop service from LAX to Osaka will strengthen business, tourism, and cultural ties with one of the most desirable cities in Asia. The new route will offer LA travellers more choices in reaching the economically important Kansai region, as well as destinations beyond.”
