Turkish Airlines inks MOU for 20+5 A350s

Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Atatürk) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the proposed order of twenty A350-900s with options for an additional five of the type.

The agreement was signed during Turkish President Recep Erdoğan's official visit to France.
The chairman of Turkish Airlines' board, İlker Ayci, said in a statement the addition of the Airbus widebodies would allow the carrier to fulfil its 2023 growth targets.
"We declare our mutual goodwill in concluding negotiations in order to bring Airbus' newest wide-bodied models into our fleet. The purpose of our negotiations towards the addition of these aircraft to our fleet is to meet our long-haul needs for Istanbul's new airport as well as to further strengthen our firm within our 2023 targets."
It is recalled that Turkish Airlines last year signed a commitment with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) for the tentative order of twenty firm and twenty optioned B787-9s to deliver between 2019 and 2023
