This becomes the airline’s third route to Greece after Athens and Thessaloniki, with the latter having launched only a few months ago. Qatar Airways Group CEO, H.E Akbar Al Baker, said of the launch: “We are thrilled that we have further expanded our operations to the beautiful island of Mykonos, only two months after the launch of service to Thessaloniki. The inaugural flight to popular Mykonos marks further growth and strengthening bonds between the State of Qatar and Greece.” Flights on the airline’s third route to Greece will be operated by the MEB3 carrier’s fleet of A320s, with no other airline presently linking the two airports. This is also Mykonos’ first MEB3 carrier service. Qatar Airways will add further routes to Europe in the coming weeks, with it planning to introduce Bodrum to its network on 12 June, a route which will operate twice-weekly, while Antalya (also twice-weekly) and Malaga (four times weekly) will be stamped onto the airline’s route map the following day based on its booking engine.
