Rex Airlines has started flying on Australia's busiest route, Melbourne to Sydney,for the
first time.
The regional carrier's first flights between the capital cities began this morning, as it attempts to compete with Virgin and Qantas on metropolitan routes.
The first flight from Melbourne to Sydney has just touched down.

Rex has also announced new destinations from other capital cities, unveiling flights from Melbourne to the Gold Coast and Adelaide with prices starting at $69.
Rex's deputy chairman, the Hon John Sharp, said; "South Australia and Queensland have always benefitted from Rex's regional services which are renowned for reliability and great country hospitality, at affordable fairs.
