2022 NEWS - 06

Sky Cana (Dominica) took delivery of one A330-200, serial 1045, on wet lease from Heston Airlines (Lithuania).
Wamos Air (Spain) took delivery of one A330-300, serial 1600, on lease.
Overland Airways (Nigeria) ATR42-300, serial 351, landed at Lagos with an engine on fire. All passengers are safe but the leased aircraft suffered substantial damage.

Ariana Afghan Airlines (Afghanistan) issues RFP to purchase three A330-200s — two pax and one freighter. Bids due 08 July 2022.
Royal Flight (Russia), which has not been flying since March 2022, does not plan to resume flights until at least the end of summer 2022. The carrier has only two aircraft left in Russia, which places it at risk of losing its AOC in September 2022.
                               
Japan Airlines plans to make a decision in a year or two on the replacement of its ageing fleet of B767s and Embraer regional jets. JAL will consider the B787 and A321neo families as possible replacements for its B767 fleet and the A220 and E2 models for regional jets.
Akasa Air (India) took delivery of the first B737 MAX, serial 62871, aircraft from Boeing in Seattle, the first of 72 on order.
Air Serbia to wet lease a B737-400, serial 28097, from Air Mediterranean (Greece) for summer 2022.


Icelandair has entered into a LOI for the purchase of four B737 MAX aircraft. The aircraft were built in 2018 and are scheduled to be delivered in the fall of 2022. This transaction will bring the total number of MAX in the Icelandair fleet up to 18 aircraft.
Aurora will take delivery of eight new SSJ100s by the end of 2025 to meet demand in the Far East region.
Air India is close to signing an agreement with Airbus for an order of up to 50 A350-900s and more than 100 A321neos.

SF Airlines (China) has expanded the size of its freighter fleet to 72, after putting a B767-300BCF into operation.

HelloJets (Romania) will operate its first commercial flights on 17 June 2022, flying from Burgas to Bucharest.


Malaysia Airlines Group will receive its first batch of B737 MAX 8s in 2023 and plans to use its MAX 8 to replace its B737-800s.
Malaysia Airlines plans to announce a decision on replacing its fleet of 21 A330s with more new-generation planes around mid- to late July 2022.


Norse Atlantic Airways began flights from Oslo to New York JFK on 15 June 2022 with B787.
NXT Air Cargo (Bangladesh) is looking to add one ATR72-500 in 1Q 2023, after updating its AOC to include international cargo operations. NXT Air Cargo has recently started operating its second aircraft, an ATR42-300.
Turkish Airlines is preparing to order around 30 A220-300s from Airbus to meet travel demand. The carrier is also mulling the E195-E2 as an alternative.

Azur Air has decided to suspend the operation of 10 aircraft for spare parts due to sanctions.


Fly Allways is expanding its fleet with an A320, which will be leased from Galistair (Malta) for the foreseeable future.




Arajet (Dominican Republic) was formally authorized by the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation to start commercial air transport operations, as an instrument of operational safety.
Oman Air has become a member of oneworld, becoming the third new member of the alliance in five years
