Singapore's Scoot to debut E190 ops in mid-2Q24

Scoot (TR, Singapore Changi) will begin E190-E2 flights in May and has announced the first destinations it will reach with the aircraft type. The the regional jets will allow the Singapore Airlines low-cost subsidiary to launch new routes to Koh Samui and Sibu while taking over all or some frequencies on existing routes to Miri, Kuantan, Hat Yai, and Krabi.

The first and second of nine E2s on order are expected to be delivered in April. The first is set to start revenue service on May 7, flying to Krabi and Hat Yai. The induction of the second will see Scoot start E2 flights to the remaining four airports, with the airline planning to deploy the type on daily flights to Koh Samui on May 13.

Scoot will also use the Embraer jets to increase frequencies to Miri from three to four times weekly as of May 20 and to Kuantan from three to four times weekly from June 3. Thrice weekly flights to Sibu will launch on June 5.

The airline firmed up its order last May to lease the nine jets from Azorra Aviation, having signed a letter of intent earlier in the year. It said at the time that it would use the aircraft to target thinner, non-metro airports around Southeast Asia.

"With Koh Samui and Sibu, Scoot’s network will increase to 69 destinations, enhancing the airline’s connectivity in the region while reinforcing Singapore’s position as a regional hub," the carrier said in a statement dated March 5. "Our fleet expansion reflects our confidence that demand for air travel will continue to grow within this region."

Scoot's current fleet comprises 54 aircraft, including eighteen A320-200s, six A320-200Ns, nine A321-200NX, eleven B787-8s, and ten B787-10s.
