FLEET / ORDER - Korea's Hyundai Group planning to acquire a BBJ MAX 8

Hyundai Group (Seoul Gimpo) is planning to acquire a B737-8(BBJ) to replace its existing B737-700(BBJ) which is used as a spare for its recently acquired Gulfstream Aerospace G650ER.

Although the South Korean car manufacturer has yet to confirm any MAX 8 order with Boeing let alone a delivery date, Korea's Aju News says recruitment ads are looking for type-rated pilots with command experience of over 7,000 hours. Hyundai Group was not immediately available for comment.

B737-700(BBJ) HL8290 (msn 41375) is 11.2 years old, the ch-aviation fleets module shows, and seats 17 in a VIP layout. It has only ever been owned and operated by Hyundai Group.

Hyundai Group has facilities in Brazil, China, India, Bangladesh, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Turkey, Germany, Czechia, and Egypt. It also uses one S-76D helicopter to move executives to and from major Korean sites, including its Ulsan plant. Its previous S-76C, built in 2008, was disposed of.
