Bamboo Airways (Hanoi) parent, the Vietnamese conglomerate FLC Group, has engaged Airbus and Boeing over its proposed fleeting plan for its nascent start-up carrier.
Established last month, Bamboo Airways plans to offer regular international flights to FLC Group resorts at Haiphong and Vietnam's northern Quang Ninh province, Thanh Hoa and Qui Nhon in the central Binh Dinh Province, Nha Trang Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa province, and Phu Quoc in the southern Kien Giang province.
In line with its objective to focus on the tourist market, Vietnam Net Bridges reports FLC has spoken to Boeing over a proposed order for fifteen aircraft - ten B737 MAX 9s and five B777Xs. The narrowbody jets would be delivered between 2018 and 2020 with the widebodies due after 2020.
Bamboo Airways plans to commence operations by late 2018. Its business plan has yet to secure the official nod from the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. With that in hand, it will then be able to proceed with its AOC with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
