Airbus has announced that it has secured a large order for the A320neo-family from Chinese airlines, which always order in bulk. In total, the manufacturer has sold 292 A320neo-family aircraft to four different Chinese airlines. Air China has ordered 64 aircraft, and also signed-up for 32 for its subsidiairy Shenzhen Airlines. China Eastern has ordered 100 A320neo-family aircraft, while China Southern is ordering 96.
The Chinese airlines will use the additional aircraft to renew the fleet and increase capacity. In a stock exchange filing, China Southern Airlines has mentioned that their new Airbuses will be used to cover for the removal of 100 B737MAXs in their fleet plan and that the airline has decided to scrap the deliveries of these aircraft due to the uncertain delivery timeframes. Deliveries for the new A320neos is to begin in 2024 with 30 aircraft, 40 in 2025, nineteen in 2026 and the final seven in 2027.
