FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 21, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Cargolux today announced that Europe's largest all-cargo airline has selected the 777-8 Freighter as the preferred solution to replace its 747-400 fleet. The 777-8 Freighter is ideally suited for operators like Cargolux, creating a more sustainable and profitable future. With nearly identical payload and range capabilities as the 747-400 Freighter, the 777-8 Freighter will provide 30% better fuel efficiency and emissions and 25% better operating costs per tonne as the airplane to replace aging large freighters later this decade.

Farnborough, 21 July 2022 – On the occasion of the Farnborough International Airshow, world’s number one regional aircraft manufacturer ATR, has reaffirmed its leadership on the regional aviation market, both today, with the signature of new deals and Global Maintenance Agreements, and in the future, with its updated 20-year market forecast.
ATR has secured new orders from Japan’s ORC and Gabon’s Afrijet, respectively selecting the ATR 42-600 and the ATR 72-600 as the lowest CO2 emission and most economical regional aircraft on the market. ATR continues to enlarge its footprint in Japan as Feel Air is looking to operate a fleet of up to 36 ATR aircraft, and the manufacturer is also getting unswerving support from the leasing community, as newly formed lessor Abelo is to acquire 20 aircraft, including 10 ATR 42-600S – the Short Take-Off and Landing version.

Boom Supersonic reveals new design for Overture

At this year's Farnborough Air Show, Boom Supersonic revealed the final design of its Overture supersonic airliner, as well as a strategic partnership with Northrop-Grumman. The redesign is the result of 26 million hours of computer simulations, 51 full design iterations and five windtunnel tests.
The Overture will be a 65-80 passenger jet, with four wing mounted engines that will enable the aircraft to fly up to 1.7 Mach over water and just below 1 Mach over land. It will have an automated noise reduction system, ensuring the Overture can fly with the same noise-level as non-supersonic aircraft. Production of the Overture is set to begin in 2024, roll-out in 2025, first flight in 2026 and entry into commercial service in 2029. Today, Boom has 70 orders and commitments from Japan Airlines and United Airlines.
The strategic partnership with Northrop-Grumman will focus on developing the Overture, together with the US Air Force, for military use.
