First American 787-8 Undergoing Final Assembly

The first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for American Airlines is now undergoing final assembly at the manufacturer's factory in Everett, Washington, according to a Twitter post by the airline on Friday.


The airline revealed on its Twitter account that it will take delivery of its first 787-8 in December. The first 787-8 is scheduled to enter service on domestic routes from early 2015.
American has firm orders for 42 787s - 16 787-8s and 26 787-9s, with options for another 58. The airline is scheduled to take delivery of two 787s in 2014, 11 in 2015, 13 in 2016 and nine in 2017.
The 787-8s will replace some of its 767s as part of its fleet renewal plan, said the carrier.
