Germania has started two new flights to the Middle East from Hamburg (HAM) in the last week, with weekly (Wednesdays) services to Mashhad (MHD) beginning on 25 February, and weekly (Mondays) operations also commencing to Tel Aviv (TLV) on 2 March

Both services will be operated by the airline’s 150-seat A319 fleet, and neither faces any direct competition on the respective city pairs. The inbound service from Mashhad is planned to return via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, presumably for operational reasons, on the lengthy 4,247-kilometre sector. These new services follow-on smartly from another route launch to the region in the previous week, namely from Düsseldorf to Tehran. The Iranian capital city international airport – Imam Khomeini – is also featured as this week’s airport profile.
