Jetstar Japan, which has been operating since July 2012, launched its first international service on 28 February, when it began thrice-weekly flights (Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays) on the 2,453-kilometre route between its base at Osaka Kansai (KIX) and Hong Kong (HKG)

At present the route is only on sale until 17 July.
Competition on the route is fierce with Cathay Pacific Airways (30 weekly flights), HK Express (14), Peach Aviation (14) and All Nippon Airways (seven) already providing passengers with a variety of options in this market. From Osaka Kansai, Jetstar Japan also serves six Japanese destinations with between one and four daily flights. According to Airbus data, the carrier, a joint venture in which Qantas and Japan Airlines each have a one-third share, currently operates a fleet of 20 A320s.
