EVA Air has made Chicago O’Hare its eighth destination in North America with the launch on 2 November of four times weekly flights from Taipei Taoyuan

The 11,977-kilometre route is not served by any other carrier and will be flown by the carrier’s new 333-seat 777-300ERs. EVA Air now serves six destinations in the US from Taipei, while China Airlines serves four. Only one US carrier serves Taiwan. United Airlines offers daily flights from San Francisco. As a result, EVA Air has a 63% share of the Taiwan-US market as measured by weekly seat capacity with China Airlines on 29% and United on 8%. Derek Chen, President of EVA Air, said: “We have steadily developed, expanded and upgraded our global network and Chicago is an important link.

EVA Air earned a Five-Star airline quality rating by SKYTRAX and was voted eighth among the world’s best international airlines by Travel + Leisure. After we launch service to Chicago and add flights on other North America routes, EVA Air will be offering 80 flights a week to Asia by the end of this year.” EVA Air infused tastes of its newest gateway into its first Chicago-Taipei flight by serving all passengers a classic salty caramel mix of the city’s famous Garrett Popcorn.
