Southwest Airlines launched flights to its third Cuban destination on 12 December – Havana

The airline will link the Cuban capital with daily flights from Tampa (TPA) and twice-daily from Fort Lauderdale (FLL), with both being served by its 737-700s. Southwest Airlines commenced its first flights to Cuba in August with a connection between Fort Lauderdale and Santa Clara, while a route to Varadero followed after. The 554-kilometre link between Tampa and Havana is not yet served, however flights on the 410-kilometre sector from Fort Lauderdale to the Cuban capital have already been inaugurated by JetBlue Airways and Spirit Airlines, with both already serving the city pair with 27 weekly flights combined
