Tibet Airlines took delivery of a brand new Airbus A330 aircraft at Lhasa Gonggar Airport on February 18, bringing its fleet size to 20 aircraft.
The new A330-200 aircraft, Registration B-8950, took off from Toulouse, France and landed smoothly in Lhasa at 12:13 p.m.
This is the Lhasa-based carrier's second wide-body aircraft after the arrival of the first A330-200 in June 2016. Tibet Airlines' A330 is configured in a three-class cabin layout (12 business, 32 premium economy, 235 economy) and deployed to open up new international routes.
The Lhasa-based carrier will fly the new A330 aircraft to the plains regions, including Chengdu-Sanya and other popular routes.
Tibet Airlines currently operates an all-Airbus fleet comprising of 14 A319s, four A320s and two A330s. The airline is known for its high-altitude operations with its operating base at Lhasa Airport which is at over 3,500 meters altitude. It is expected to expand its fleet size to 25 by the end of 2017.
