Yeti Airlines, Buddha Air eye ATR72s

Yeti Airlines (YT, Kathmandu) has been given Nepalese government permission to proceed with the purchase of four ATR72-500s. According to the Kathmandu Post, the aircraft will be delivered between mid-2017 and mid-2018 and will be used to replace the domestic carrier's fleet of six Jetstream 41s.

Yeti Airlines will become the second Avions de Transport Régional (Toulouse Blagnac) operator in Nepal following Buddha Air (U4, Kathmandu) which already operates three ATR42-300s and three ATR72-500s. Buddha Air will add a pair of ATR72-600s during the first quarter of next year. Airline management have said they expect to use the aircraft to expand their local network both in terms of reach as well as capacity.
