SalamAir, Oman's first low-cost carrier, started operations this week on 30 January, by linking the capital city of Muscat (MCT) with the country's third largest city Salalah

The fledgling airline will fly the 848-kilometre domestic sector three times daily on its single ex-LATAM A320. Two further ex-LATAM A320s will joint the fleet shortly. Flag carrier Oman Air provides the competition on this city pair, with a 55 times weekly operation. The airline's on-line booking tool suggests that the LCC's next route is likely to be Dubai Al Maktoum in the UAE. CEO François Bouteiller was formerly boss at Saudi LCC flynas.
