On 3 March, Interjet became the latest carrier to begin services at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in Texas with the start of double-daily flights to Mexico City. The Mexican carrier will compete head-to-head with Aeromexico and American Airlines on 1,508-kilometre route.

• Interjet has added Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to its US network with the launch on 3 March of a 12 times weekly service from its main base at Mexico City (MEX). The 1,508-kilometre route will be flown by the airline’s Superjet 100s and will face direct competition from American Airlines (five daily flights) and Aeromexico (11 weekly flights). Speaking at the route launch, Sean Donohue, CEO, DFW Airport, said: “DFW welcomes Interjet as our newest airline. As travel to Mexico continues to flourish and now represents just over 40% of DFW’s international passenger travel, there’s an even stronger need to provide choices that accommodate flexible schedules and varied price points. Interjet offers travellers low-fare flights to exciting destinations, and DFW is pleased to now be part of that network.” Jose Luis Ramirez Magnani, Deputy Chairman of Interjet, added: “This new route helps to increase tourism and business opportunities between Mexico City and one of the largest and most visited metropolitan areas in Texas. Dallas/Fort Worth represents our third destination in Texas, and combined with Houston and San Antonio, we will offer 90 weekly flights.”
