Scoot debuted services on the 8 July from Singapore to Osaka Kansai, a route that will operate via Bangkok Don Mueang thrice-weekly, and also via Kaohsiung thrice-weekly, with the latter launching on 9 July
All services will be flown using the carrier’s 787-9s. Services from Singapore to Osaka will face direct competition from Singapore Airlines, a carrier that currently operates the 4,906-kilometre sector twice-daily. Services from Kaohsiung to Singapore will face direct competition from China Airlines, an airline that flies the 2,947-kilometre city pair twice-weekly. Finally, the sector from Osaka to Kaohsiung will face direct competition from China Airlines (12 times weekly), EVA Airways (7), Peach Aviation (7), and Tigerair Taiwan (7). Although not in direct competition, services on the sector from Bangkok to Osaka face opposition from Japan Airlines and Thai Airways, carriers who fly to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi from Japan’s second largest metropolitan area
