Alaska Airlines to acquire Hawaiian Airlines

Alaska Air Group and Hawaiian Airlines announced both companies reached an agreement in which the Alaska Air Group is to acquire Hawaiian Airlines for 1,9 billion USD. The proposed deal will now go through all the needed regulatory and shareholders approvals processes and is expected to be finalized within the coming 12-18 months.

Hawaiian Airlines will continue to operate under its own brand as part of the Alaska Air Group. As a result of the deal, Hawaiian Airlines will also join the oneworld-alliance and work closely with Alaska Airlines to make Honolulu a key-hub for the airlines.

Combined, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines will become the US' fifth airline, with a fleet of around 350 aircraft and serving almost 140 destinations.
