FLEET - Red Wings Airlines Revives Sky Gates Cargo Carrier

Red Wings Airlines announced the launch of cargo transportation. It will be developed based on the assets of Sky Gates Airlines, a company acquired by Red Wings in August 2023. The cargo fleet will consist of domestically produced aircraft, including those that have undergone the procedure for restoring airworthiness at the aircraft factories of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). The first commercial flight of the modernized Il-96-400T Turkmenbashi-Moscow with a cargo of consumer goods landed at Zhukovsky airport on December 10.

The Sky Gates fleet today is represented by two aircraft - Il-76TD and Il-96-400T. In the future, the cargo fleet will continue to expand using domestically produced aircraft.

A comprehensive program for restoring the airworthiness of Russian-made cargo and passenger aircraft is being implemented by the company that owns the aircraft, Ilyushin Finance and Co. (part of the UAC). Experienced test instructors from the Voronezh airline company VASO, a subsidiary of UAC, will retrain pilots to fly the Il-76TD and Il-96-400T.
