FLEET - Turkmenistan Airlines takes delivery of first B777-300(ER)


Turkmenistan Airlines (T5, Ashgabat) has taken delivery of its first B777-300(ER) following the arrival of EZ-A781 (msn 37898) in Turkmenistan on December 4.

The 12-year-old ex-Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) jet was ferried to Turkmenbashi and on to Ashgabat having undergone repainting at Lake Charles Chennault. It will be joined by sistership EZ-A782 (msn 39235) which is still at Lake Charles and which will be ferried to Central Asia, "in the near future", the state-owned carrier said in a statement.

Both widebodies seat 368 passengers including 40 in business class as well as 32 in premium economy and 296 in economy class. Both are powered by General Electric GE90-115BL2 engines.

The B777s will expand the Turkmen carrier's mainline passenger fleet which currently numbers four B737-700s, eight B737-800s, four B757-200s, and four B777-200(LR)s. It also has four B737-8s due from Boeing (BOE, Washington National).
