China's YTO Express Airlines adds maiden B737 freighters

YTO Express Airlines (HYT, Hangzhou) took delivery of its first aircraft - a pair of ex-Donghai Airlines (DZ, Shenzhen) B737-300(F)s B-2505 (msn 28657) and B-2608 (msn 28662) - on Tuesday, June 30.

In its initial phases, the carrier plans to operate a total of three B737 freighters two of which are sourced from the Aviation Capital Group (US) while the other is leased from Yangtze River Express (Y8, Shanghai Hongqiao).

The start-up last year secured CAAC regulatory approval to operate domestic as well as international cargo flights. It began certification in early June and is expected to receive its AOC in the coming weeks.

Shanghai-based parent YTO Express, which offers warehousing, distribution and transport throughout China, has pledged to invest CNY5.5billion (USD888million) in the carrier over the next 10 years.
