TruJet secures AOP ahead of launch later this month

TruJet (TRJ, Hyderabad Int'l) has secured its Air Operators Permit (AOP) from the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ahead of its planned launch on July 12.

The start-up has already leased two ex-Berjaya Air (J8, Kuala Lumpur Subang) ATR72-500s with plans to acquire three more by March next year.

Based in Hyderabad Int'l, TruJet will cater to the south and western Indian markets serving Rajahmundry, Bangalore Int'l and Chennai initially before expanding to Tirupati, Aurangabad, Mangalore, Hubli, and Vijayawada. There, it will compete with Air Costa (LB, Vijayawada), Air Pegasus (OP, Bangalore Int'l), and fellow start-up FlyEasy (Bangalore Int'l) which is targeting an October launch date.
